Love and Shyness

Someone wrote me recently about shyness and being shy. So I thought I would share this for all of us that are having trouble with or who have ever had trouble with shyness. I would hardly call myself shy these days. I’m usually the total opposite of shy now. But I used to be painfully shy. I had several friends in middle school and high school and I mostly got along with everyone. But if my best friend didn’t show up for school that day I would hide in the bathroom when I wasn’t in class. I didn’t feel worthy enough to be around others. When I was in high school I remember reading an article about friends and shyness that I will never forget. It helped change my life in the shyness department. It talked about how everyone has problems, and everyone can use a friend. How you can make their lives easier by being that friend. There are many things I have forgotten about the article, but I have found the gist of it has been proven over and over again to be true. You never know what people are going through. Sometimes the people that can seem to have it put together the most are the ones that need luv the most. If we realize that the person we are shy of could be going through something truly terrible, it becomes so much easier to put our own fears aside and reach out to them with luv.

Luv Love

This is a story about luv, a different kind of love than you may be used to, and how it can help you lead the life of your dreams. A life filled to bursting with happiness, peace, and love. A magical place where everything and everyone is connected, like a wonderful gigantic jigsaw puzzle, and there are no misunderstandings between anyone. A magnificent place in time where all words are more like pictures and everyone understands all the meanings of those pictures perfectly. Like when we say a picture speaks a thousand words. Then imagine if you will that this jigsaw puzzle is cut in perfect square... but somehow along the way... the squares get all mixed up. They still fit together perfectly, but something isn’t quite right... the pictures don't match up from square to square. So that what people say and what they actually mean when they say things are completely different. Suddenly the words we use have such different meanings from person to person, that words like love mean one thing to one person and another to another person.

Yourself - Loving

Loving Yourself In Nature
Give Yourself Loving With Nature

Not enough loving in your life? Love yourself before you can love others. Maybe you want just one loving special someone, or maybe you have a special someone, and you just want them to love you more. If you want more love from anyone though, you have to remind yourself of one very important thing. You are the most important thing in your world! Please remember that the airlines say that in the event of a crash, put your mask on first, so that you can then help your child or others around you. The same holds true in life and love, you have to love yourself first if you can ever hope to have love, peace, and happiness left over for others. When I was homeless I would sometimes feel very unloved - like the whole world was against me. To get away from that feeling I would read and study things that helped bring me back to a place where I could be loving and be loved again. After you get back to a better place mentally, then you can do nice things for yourself, to fully give yourself love so that you can give and receive love more easily. Even today I still surround myself with things to read, listen to, and watch that help bring me back to a place of love when I need it most. What can you do to give love to yourself?

Loving Yourself With Flowers
Give Yourself Loving By Going To a Park

There are lots of loving things you can do for yourself, and they don’t even have to take up much of your time. You can also do tons of fun and/or relaxing things that don’t cost anything. If you want people to love you more, including the romantic kind of love, you need to love yourself first. One of the many loving things you can do for yourself that doesn’t cost anything is going for a walk in nature or a park near you. You get to hear the really neat assorted birdcalls, maybe the rustling of the wind in the trees if there is a breeze. You can see so many different plants and trees if you just look around at the beauty of nature, not to mention all the cute animals you can see if you keep your eyes open. Some of the plants smell really good too, not just the ones with beautiful or unusual flowers either. I even pull off the flowers and leaves sometimes, some feel as smooth as melted butter, just so exquisite and nice. As an added bonus you can give others the flowers you pick from your walks with nature, even if you live in a big city like me, you can still find flowers that overlap onto the sidewalk and you can give them to others, thus loving yourself more :)

Loving Yourself By Going To The Beach
Give Yourself Loving By Being With Nature

Walking also helps you love yourself physically; the fresh air in your lungs and the sun on your skin can brighten your whole day. Of course we all know how important the exercise is. Even a nice stroll helps. You can also do loving things for yourself that don’t cost much, like sometimes I feed the squirrels or even the ducks, birds, and geese in my local park. I buy a bag or two of peanuts at the dollar store and then feed the squirrels. Sometimes I buy the cheapest biggest loaves of bread I can get and go feed the ducks, geese and any other birds that happen to be around. You can even go to a beach or any nearby water to picnic, play, relax or whatever you like to do. Maybe go fishing off a pier, whatever floats your boat that YOU like to do.

Garden Peace

My Garden of Peace
My Window Garden Brings Me Peace
Plant a peace garden today :)Did you know that some of the people that were in concentration camps actually planted their potato peelings in the ground, just in case they might still be around to harvest their serene bounty? They found ways to have peace now, not later, when they got out of the camp, but right now, living as unruffled as they could with the circumstances that life brought them. Plants and gardening can bring you a wonderful feeling of tranquility. Not to mention the fact that, of all the studies I’ve heard or read about on people who live the longest, most of them did gardening. I’m not talking about your average garden, but one where you plant the types of fruits and/or veggies YOU love to eat. You can easily plant and harvest a gorgeous garden, even if you are living in a small hotel or motel room. I actually have a stunning indoor window garden and am living in a small motel room right now. You can even start an amazing garden if you have a brown thumb instead of a green one, which is how I started ;) You can even do it if you are homeless; I have done that too. Most fruits and vegetables even have beautiful flowers for a short time during their growing season. So your garden plants can be both striking and fragrant. You can start living your life right now, with more peace, through gardening.

My Beautiful Garden Promotes Peace
I didn’t start out thinking about gardening when I first became homeless. In fact, I was definitely a brown thumb when I first had plants, before I became homeless. With a little bit of studying though, I became better and better, and so can you :) The one homeless shelter where I was staying at had some landscaping, a kind of garden, and I saw that with a little bit of care it could become something really great. I asked if I could work on it, and soon it did become very attractive, people even complimented me on it all the time. The garden was not only beautiful and green, but lots of the plants had pretty flowers on them as well. I started cutting the flowers just before they turned brown, and giving them to people, which made their day and mine. Not only that but I found out so much about the landscaping, like they had plants like mint growing that smelled so good. Of course most of the flowers, and especially the roses, smelled divine. The petals felt so nice and soft in my hands, like satin or velvet. The snip sniping of the dead leaves and anything that was out of place was so satisfying. And later I realized I could shape the plants anyway I wanted to.

Online Cards

Every time I think of sending online cards I'm reminded of a true story I once heard about a girl who died young. She was such a beautiful girl, inside and out. She constantly tried to think of all the good things she knew about anyone and everyone. Not only did she think of what she liked about people, she wrote it down. She wrote everything down every day in her diary. After she died, her diary was read, and they decided that it needed to be made public. The words she wrote touched everyone so deeply. Oh how they loved her and missed her. I often wonder what would have happened if only those things had been known when she was alive. Would she have been the happiest girl alive with the outpouring of love from those around her? I think maybe yes. But what she wrote lives on forever in the minds of those who heard those words. Why don't we learn from this, why don't we tell everyone we know all the good we know of them. The joy that we can spread might very well bring us to tears. It will certainly make our day and theirs.

A great way to let people know that you like them is by spreading some joy through online cards. It's free, easy, and takes very little effort on your part. Also don't worry if you don't know what to say. You can pick a card that will say it for you. You are already on the computer right now, so now with just a few happy steps you can get some more joy. When you send an online card you have to remember that some people may not have gotten a card in years, maybe even never. I personally know some people I have sent cards to that had never even gotten an online card EVER before. So just think of all of your friends, relatives, acquaintances, including people you work and play with. Don't they all deserve cards, and guess what, some of them might even try to make your day by sending YOU an online card back, how sweet is that, just think of all the happiness that could be coming your way. If you want to do it with as little effort as possible, you could even send them all the same card, all you would have to do is pick your favorite card and send it to all of them. You can even pick exactly what kind of colors and theme you want, or you could think about their favorite colors and what they like.

Funny Peace and Stress Jokes

Here are some very funny stress jokes.

Last week a friend of mine went to a seminar called Stress and Disease by an expert in psychobiology. He gave an example of a coping skill for job stress that I would like to share with you. When you have had one of those TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT days, try this. On your way home after work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the section where they have thermometers. You will need to purchase a rectal thermometer made by Q-Tip. Be very sure that you get this brand. When you get home, lock your doors, draw the drapes, and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed during your therapy. Change to very comfortable clothing, such as a sweat suit and lie down on your bed. Open the package containing the thermometer and remove the thermometer and carefully place it on the bedside table so that it will not become chipped or broken. Take the written material that accompanies the thermometer and as you read it you will notice in small print the statement that every rectal thermometer made by Q-Tip is PERSONALLY tested. Now close your eyes and say out loud five times, 'I am so glad that I do not work in quality control at the Q-Tip Company.'

Here is a stress management technique recommended in all the latest psychological texts: Picture yourself near a stream. Birds are softly chirping in the crisp, cool, mountain air. No one knows your secret place. You are in total seclusion from that hectic place called "the world". The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity. The water is clear. You can easily make out the face of the person you're holding under the water... There now... feeling better?

Here are some sexy funny peace jokes.

If the dove is the bird of peace, what is the bird of true love?
The swallow.

Killing for peace is like fucking for virginity.

Joke From Around The World

Welsh Joke - A turtle was walking down an alley in Wales when he was mugged by a gang of snails. A police detective came to investigate and asked the turtle if he could explain what happened. The turtle looked at the detective with a confused look on his face and replied "I don't know, it all happened so fast."

Joke About The World

An old Native American proverb teaches us: "We do not inherit this land from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children." So it only makes sense that we make our children do all the work to save the planet!

Funniest Joke In The World

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy takes out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps: "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator says: "Calm down, I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a gunshot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says: "OK, now what?"

Peace - How To Get It!

Once upon a time there was a woman who didn't feel peace, in fact she didn't feel peaceful at all, she felt so stressed she used to smoke cigarettes every day, sleep much more than most people do each night, nap for three hours a day on top of that, and get sicker and sicker for longer and longer periods of time. That woman... was me! Now I'm happier, healthier and much more at peace than I've ever been. So now I want to ask you two questions. Are you feeling as much peace in your life as you would like? Would you like to feel more peaceful? We all know that peace will give us a longer, more enjoyable life. But do you really know how much you need that kind of relaxation in your life, believe me, it is not selfish to give yourself more time in the day, and to be more relaxed for the ones you love, it helps both you and them. You deserve it, and they deserve to have a calmer, more peaceful you. So stick around and we'll get you that peaceful feeling you crave.

There is something I do when I feel like I need peace that works every time, that both makes me feel much more comfortable and is effortless on my part. I've told you that I used to nap for three hours every day, but now, because of my secret tool for peace, I not only feel as rested and peaceful as if I had actually taken a three hour nap, but afterwards, I don't even need a nap anymore, so I now get all that extra time to do whatever I want with my day! And this even helped me through all the times I tried to quit smoking, and everyone knows how stressful that is. Not to mention the fact that I now actually like getting up early and enjoy my day more, whereas before I used to sleep until late afternoon and hated morning people. I still enjoy quiet time in the morning, but I actually look forward to my days now. My secret tool for peace even helped my friends hyperactive daughter calm down, it's that good! The reason I love my secret tool above and beyond the rest of my tools for feeling more peaceful is because it takes no effort on my part whatsoever, none! But don't worry if you don't know all the secrets to getting more peace in your life, most people don't know them, so we'll get there together. So relax, it's alright, take a deep breath and get comfortable, because getting and feeling peace are much easier than you think, I promise, all will soon be revealed.

Ahhhh... peace. A calm, quiet stillness. A tranquil place and space that's all your own. I go to my space often to feel more serene and peaceful. It's easier to experience good things like love and joy with more peace in your life. Achieving peace is a balance just like anything else in life, but I think we can all agree that peace definitely fits in the "good things" category ;) As we go on, the biggest tip I can give you for achieving peace, can also be the hardest for some people, but it is the most lasting once learned. It is the pot of golden peace on the other side of the rainbow. That special peaceful place above all others that you go to in your dreams. We're about to set out on a journey to fulfill that dream. Also there is a trick for achieving peace that's as automatic as eating and breathing, so as you can see, it's far easier than you think to achieve peace in your life. We're about to start feeling peaceful together, so please don't skip ahead until we get you some peace right now.

But first let's talk quickly about one of my favorite ways to achieve more peace in my life; human contact and the peace that comes from touch. Hugging and other forms of human contact can be very soothing and peaceful. Hugs contribute to peace of mind, so if you can give more hugs in your life, then by all means do so :) However one of my very favorite forms of touch, a nice therapeutic massage, can be gotten if you prefer that method. If I could afford it I'd have a massage everyday, well, maybe, if I wasn't so self-conscious about my body that is ;).........

Gratitude

So I was thinking about all the things I'm grateful for and wrote them down on the gratitude board today. One of the biggies is that I'm not homeless anymore. This really hit home this morning as I was headed to the library to work on my site. Before I went downstairs to the subway station a little girl came up to me and asked me for some money. I usually try to give some money when people seem like they need it, even though things are very tight right now, even if it's just some loose change. But even though I'm never quite sure if I'll have enough money for food for the rest of the month, I felt my heart tug at me, and as I started to reach for a couple of bucks, I ended up giving a five dollar bill, which seems like a lot to me, but for this little girl and her mom... well, it meant so much more for me to give it to her. I hope they both get enough money to go wherever they are going. I hope they know they are loved. I hope they know how much they gave to me today, just by needing me. As I needed to give to them. I was so glad to be able to give to a mother and daughter who needed it, I could tell the daughter was a little embarassed to ask, but those are the people who need it the most. Those who don't ask for it. I hope we can all remember to give thanks for all that we have, we are so blessed just to live in this country that helps those that need it most. I love you all and am glad to be able to share this with you. Peace love and joy to you always :)
